The 360 Wellness Way: What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Visit in Madison, Wi

Starting a new step in your health journey can be scary. If you’ve never seen a chiropractor before, it can be easy to get lost in the weeds of all the options and information while you search for the right fit. At 360 Wellness Chiropractic + Physical Therapy, we believe that no two patients or care plans are alike. From day one, our team designs your experience to fit your story, your body, and your needs. We work to make you feel comfortable and confident both in our office and with your care.

Personalized care helps your body respond faster, function better, and heal the way it’s meant to.

Day 1

When you walk into 360 Wellness, you’re greeted with a warm welcome and an inviting environment. The space is designed with you in mind. Whether you’ve just come from a long day of work, have your kids tagging along, or just have a busy schedule, we hope our environment encourages your nervous system to relax right away.

At 360 Wellness, we take the time to get the full picture of what’s going on with your health so that we can create a plan tailored to your needs. Once you’re all checked-in at the office, the 360 Team conducts a full consultation largely led directly by one of our on-staff doctors. The consultation involves a full health history, a series of exams, and any necessary imaging.

1. The Health History

It is very important to our team that we get to know your entire health story. If pain is what brought you in, we’ll talk about that. What is bothering you? When is it bothering you? What can’t you do because of the pain? We have found that more often than not, it’s not just the pain that brings people in, but rather what their pain is preventing them from being able to do.

However, we don’t stop there. We try our best to learn about your lifestyle, your hobbies, your past health issues, and injuries. No two people walk into our office with the same history, way of life, or stress patterns. That’s why we get to know everyone individually so we can better understand exactly what brought them into our office and tailor a plan directly to their needs.

2. The Exam and Imaging

Now that we know a bit more about you, we move into the exam and imaging portion of our consultation. This involves looking at your posture, how you move, how your joints are functioning, and getting an internal look with X-Rays. We notice when something feels uncomfortable, there’s a bit of pain, tightness, or weakness. That’s when we see your body physically expressing the problem, and that’s when we get to the bottom of the root cause.

Many people come into our office because of pain, and while that is an important puzzle piece, it isn’t the whole picture. You may be having neck pain, but it’s our job to figure out if it’s because of degeneration, a subluxation, or potentially a loss of cervical curve. We zoom out, get a holistic view so we can pinpoint what’s really going on.

3. The Goals

The most important part of our consultation is learning your goals. What are you hoping to get out of your care here? These aren’t just about pain. Everyone would love to have their pain go away. Instead, we record goals that are tangible and trackable.

You want to hold your kids for longer periods of time without shoulder pain. You want to increase your workout reps without low back pain. You want to wake up without worrying when your next tension headache will happen. Knowing and tracking these goals are our best objective measures for how you’re progressing during your time with us.

At 360 Wellness, we’re less interested in chasing symptoms and more interested in improving how your body functions overall. Lasting changes are made when we tap into the root cause and figure out a consistent game plan for the future. That is what Day 1 is about. Getting and absorbing as much information as possible from the person in front of us so that we can coordinate with our doctors to create a custom game plan.

Day 2

After your initial consultation, our team we like to see you back as soon as possible to go through your exam results, look at any imaging taken, and discuss the personalized plan moving forward. This appointment involves a thorough conversation about what we discovered during your consultation, a presentation of what care plan our doctors believe would help you the most, and concludes with your first adjustment at our office.

1. The Results

Before you start care with us, our goal is to make you feel informed, confident, and hopeful about what will happen moving forward. We go over what we saw during your exam, what your X-Rays look like, and why those results matter. We’ll walk you through what we see as the root cause of not just pain, but also potential dysfunction within your body that could be preventing you from performing to your highest potential.

We want you to know exactly what’s going on within your own body. Any questions or concerns you have, we are happy to address. You’ll also understand how our chiropractic care is going to help you with the specific problem you came in for, and potentially so much more.

2. The Plan

Once you feel fully informed about our findings, we’ll dive right into your care plan. We don’t believe that there’s a one-size-fits-all for chiropractic care. Our job is to figure out what you need, what your body needs, and then build a plan around that.

The 360 Team creates the plan that they believe is in your best interest. It’ll include the frequency of how often they want to see you in the office. It’ll also include the structure of when you’ll receive your denneroll, when you’ll start your supplemental exercises, and when you’ll have your routine check-ins. Finally, your plan will also lay out the cost, so you’re fully informed before you ever start care.

2. The Adjustment

Your Day 2 appointment ends with your first adjustment. This adjustment will be gentle, quick, specific, and precise. Just like no two care plans are the same, no two adjustments are either. Our doctors notice the differences, notice where something may not be functioning as it should, and focus their adjustments on those areas.

Some people feel immediate relief after an adjustment, while others notice gradual improvements. Most of the time, people feel improvement with consistency. You may feel some soreness after your first few adjustments, but over time, your body starts to adapt. Each adjustment goal isn’t so you feel something different for the day, it’s to help your body function better long-term.

Starting something new in your health journey can come with lots of nerves and fear. At 360 Wellness in Madison, WI, we try to quell that fear from the very first visit. We’re transparent, comforting, and informative so that you can make the best decision for your body. Our process doesn’t start with a cold welcome and classic adjustments. Instead, we begin by getting to know your health story so that your care is tailored to your specific needs.

Care built specifically for you and your body works better. Simple as that.
